You are Crazy. Deal with it.

Dear Crazy,

You look around and feel like no one understands you. You feel alone in this world because you have thoughts and feelings that people can’t seem to understand or accept. You’ve been told to suppress your emotions and self-expressions because they are out of the ordinary and will only scare people away. You’ve been told that you are too different to fit into the rest of society, and that you must be hidden and locked away.

You spent your whole life pretending to be someone you’re not just so people will not run away. You put on a mask to show others that you are plain and “normal”, just like the rest of them, and in the process, you cover up what makes you special. You have been told, for so long, that you are “insane” and “psychotic”, that you start to believe it.

You see therapists and take pills to cover up who you naturally are. Who’s to say that everyone else isn’t the crazy ones, and you’re the only one who is normal? Why are you letting meaningless words of others take you away from yourself? Sure, you may be out of the ordinary, but that’s what makes you, you. Without people like you, the world would not have great minds and creativity. You are not “crazy”; you are simply thinking outside the box, and that is fascinating and admirable.

Sing the tune of your life in whatever key you want. Instead of following major scales, express the flats and sharps that you are. Don’t be silenced by those who fail to accept your beauty and uniqueness because, when you do, you give them power over your individuality.

Haven’t you heard? Crazy is the new black! Let loose and run wild if you want. When you only have one chance in life, there’s no time to keep yourself in a box. You are not crazy; you are you.

Sincerely with Love,

Crazy
